SISSI FARASSAT

WALD

THE ARTIST

Sissi Farassat’s practice deals with the meaning of representation. She stages role plays in order then, in the photographic stills, to choose a posture which she elaborates on and which thus becomes not just the index of physical traces of her manual involvement with the picture medium but also a symbol of those images of female postures – vascillating between anonymity, humor, eroticism and the forbidden – deeply embedded in our minds. For a lampshade, she has stitched with a single thread the outline of a person photographed, an outline that fades as a posture when the lamp is switched on.
