MAEVE RENDLE
RESPITE
THE ARTIST
Maeve Rendle investigates the materiality of objects. She is interested in looking at and reinterpreting the states of things to achieve a different sense of order thant that of the original object. „What begins as a curious investigation into any part of any thing, ends in a gradual manipulations to reveal a physical difference or potential within the object.“
In this instance, the artist has removed the Queen Anne style legs from a variety of Victorian nested tables, she has placed them together arranged in order of their hieght, akin to placing flowers in a vase. The seperation of the table legs from the body initiates a process of reconfiguration, bringing a new asthetic, design function, an meaning to the object.
